Nationwide Health Initiative 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar' Launched in Sundernagar

Health Awareness Campaign Kicks Off

MANDI: A significant health awareness campaign named ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ was inaugurated at the Civil Hospital in Sundernagar this week. This initiative is part of a broader national effort that commenced on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

The two-week program, which will continue until October 2, aims to enhance women's health across the nation under the Seva Pakhwada 2025 initiative.

At the Sundernagar Civil Hospital, designated as a model health facility for this campaign, various activities are being conducted under the guidance of Senior Medical Officer Dr. Chaman Singh Thakur, with Dr. Vijay Kumar serving as the nodal officer.

Daily Health Services and Screenings

Screenings and Daily Health Services
• Daily, between 150 to 200 women are screened for various health indicators, including blood pressure, blood sugar, haemoglobin levels, tuberculosis, breast cancer, and cervical cancer.
• Adolescent girls are receiving haemoglobin assessments and guidance on menstrual hygiene.
• Specialist consultations and surgical services are available for those who require them.

Special Focus on Maternal Health

As part of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA), dedicated camps are being organized:
• The inaugural PMSMA camp was held on September 19 in Sundernagar, where gynaecologist Dr. Alok Sharma examined 81 pregnant women.
• These camps aim to promote safe pregnancies and the early identification of maternal health issues.
On September 18, the hospital also hosted a blood donation drive in partnership with the Rotary Club Sundernagar, where local residents generously donated 28 units of blood.

Nationwide Campaign for Health Awareness

This initiative, launched as part of the ‘Seva Pakhwada’ to celebrate Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, is being implemented across all states. Health centers throughout India are conducting screening camps, medical consultations, and awareness programs.

In Delhi alone, over 7,500 health camps have been scheduled during this fortnight. The national emphasis is on the early detection of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and cancer, while also focusing on maternal and adolescent health.

The entire medical and paramedical team at Sundernagar Civil Hospital is actively participating in this two-week program, ensuring that women of all ages—from teenage girls to senior women—receive timely screenings and medical advice.
